Anti-Crime Christmas Campaign Starts

Commander of the Eastern Division, South, Superintendent Chester Williams has commented saying that the authorities are considering some sort of reward to the persons who aided in the murder case of businessman, Ruben Perez on November 26 near the junction of Vernon Street and the George Price Highway.  Ordinarily, rewards would be given through the 922 Tips hotline but since the information that led to the arrests of  Keon Dennison and Tyron Reed, was not given via that avenue, that has led the authorities into thinking of their own reward system.   The two yong men were picked up by investigators within twenty four hours of the murder and their quick response led to the murder victim’s mobile phone being found in the possession of one of the robbers.  According to police, the men have no criminal background and no relation to the deceased.  Apparently, what started out as an assault was meant to be a robbery with Perez’ business being a random target.  Investigators are of the belief that the entire situation turned fatal due to the inexperience of the young men in committing such a crime compounded by the struggle that Perez had put up.  And while the police is looking at a reward for those who assisted in this murder investigation, Superintendent Williams is assuring the residents that during this busy Christmas season, the police will be increasing their presence to ensure the safety of not only the shoppers but the business persons as well.  Today starts the anti-crime campaign and with that, there should be a notable presence of uniformed officers on the streets as well as mobile patrols in the various areas.
