Argument Leads to Shooting at Belize City Grocery Store

An argument between a customer and a shopkeeper in Belize City ended in a shooting incident on Sunday. Reports are that thirty-nine-year-old Reno Castillo was at Guan Fa Grocery Store on Albert Hoy Avenue, in Belama Phase 2, when he began arguing with the owner. During their altercation Guan Fa’s nephew, twenty-nine-year-old Wenjing Lie reportedly pulled out his licensed firearm and shot Castillo in the leg. Today, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, said that Lie will be charged if the investigation concludes that firing the shot was unnecessary.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the area as part of the investigation.
