Five gunmen held up and robbed a service station in Dangriga Town on Saturday night. Reports reaching Love News are that the men went to the gas station minutes before the business was closing. The supervisor on duty, 37-year-old Lenford Valdez was reportedly cashing out the day’s sales when three armed men entered the establishment. One of the robbers took the entire cash register containing close to five hundred dollars while another robber continued to search for more money. Stann Creek Correspondent Harry Arzu spoke to one eye witness who explained that the entire incident unfolded quickly just before seven o’clock.
Eyewitness: “That was at about a quarter to seven close to closing time and five gunmen ran up from behind the yard and put guns on us; two had machine guns and the other two had hand guns, three of them had hand guns. They came, took what they wanted and after that they fled the scene. I don’t know how much they took, I have no idea of that.”
Harry Arzu, Love News: So they came in quickly ?
Eyewitness: “Quickly. They did it in less than three seconds. They moved very fast, by boat they came.”
Harry Arzu, Love News: How were they dressed up ?
Eyewitness: “Well all of them had on masks and camouflage.”
Harry Arzu, Love News: How did they appear to be ? Black people ? What were their complexions ?
Eyewitness: “Well they didn’t have on any long sleeves so they were black people. We were scared after all we’re human beings when you see guns you have to get frightened because our lives were in danger. They just pulled up and did what they needed to do then left. To me that is something already planned out that is they way I see it. The police are doing their jobs, they are investigating they have to do their part in the same way, in less than five minutes they were here.”
Harry Arzu, Love News: And the guys they disappeared ?
Eyewitness: “Yeah they fled the scene already.”
Harry Arzu, Love News: Nobody got hurt ?
Eyewitness: “Nobody got hurt thank God for that.”
