Armed Robbery at Punta Gorda Store, Police Seek Suspects

Investigations are also ongoing into a robbery that occurred in Punta Gorda Town on Sunday. Around 7:30 a.m. two men, one armed with a gun entered Mayday Store located on Jose Maria Nunez Street and demanded the money. The store owner 47-year-old Weikun Li said he tried to run out of the store but one of the culprits grabbed him. ASP Hilberto Romero says that police believe the culprits are from Punta Gorda Town.

A.C.P. Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division: “On Sunday police responded to the report of a robbery at a store in Punta Gorda Town. Upon their arrival Weikun Li reported that he was held up by two male persons armed with firearms. They held him up and his wife. They then proceeded to to the cash pan and stole an amount of cash. Thereafter both male persons fled from the area. We are seeking two suspects in regards to this robbery.”

Reporter: Anybody injured ? 

A.C.P. Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division:  “No-one was injured.”

Reporter: Where are these individuals believed to be coming from ?

A.C.P. Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division:  “We believe they are from Punta Gorda.”

The men made off with around five thousand dollars in various denominations.
