Armed Robbery in Belmopan: Gunman Targets Family in ‘Naybaz’ Store

A family in Belmopan was the victim of an armed robbery over the weekend. On Sunday night, a man walked into a “Naybaz” Store in the Capital City under the guise of a paying customer. But before the store owner, Rebecca Cal, could have served the man, he pulled out a gun. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero provides additional details.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Rebecca Cal of San Martin area in Belmopan reported that she was inside her store namely Neybaz Store when a male person entered the establishment and got a beer from the cooler. The person came to where she was at which point the male person pulled out a firearm and demanded money and other items. Shortly thereafter a second male person entered and they proceeded to rob the customers and stole an amount of cash along with cellphones and other valuables. The male persons then jumped on a motorcycle and they fled off from the area. We do not have any suspects at this time. This is the first one in Belmopan. The other incident was a burglary that happened in Ladyville and so yes they are different reports they occurred in two separate districts.”
