Armed Robbery Targets Belize City Store: Owner Assaulted, Thousands Stolen

A store in Belize City was targeted by armed robbers yesterday on Lakeview Street. Around 9:45, the owner of B&J Shop, 52-year-old Sumei Kuang, was opening the garage to park her car after returning from the bank when she was ambushed by two men. The masked bandits grabbed Kunag by the neck and pointed a gun at her forehead while demanding money. Kuang handed over a bag with approximately 3,000 dollars along with her bank cards, checkbook, and gun license. The men then fled the scene and managed to evade the police checkpoint a stone’s throw away. Police say they attempted to review nearby cameras, but the system was down.
