Arson Investigation Launched After Woman’s Vehicle Set Ablaze in Belize City

Police are investigating a case of arson in Belize City after a woman’s vehicle was set on fire on Saturday night. Just after ten-thirty, officers were called to a scene on Albert Hoy Avenue, where they found a black Pontiac SUV with fire damage to the windshield and front passenger side. Police say they found a plastic bottle on the ground near the vehicle and smelled the strong scent of gasoline. The owner, 25-year-old Shelly Allen, told police that she had parked the vehicle on the street earlier that night, and around ten-thirty, she heard a loud bang. When she went to investigate the noise, she saw that the vehicle was on fire. Members of Allen’s family managed to extinguish the fire before personnel from the National Fire Service arrived. Police are seeking one person in connection with the incident.
