As the Plot Thickens, The Prime Minister Will Not Be Bullied

As many revelations surface, and moves are being made in the battle of the Waterloo Investments, Stake Bank Enterprises and Portico Enterprises, the story deepens with seeming acts of land greed, corruption and unprecedented agreements.  It has placed the Briceno administration in a bit of a pickle.  Nonetheless, in a midterm address to the Belizean people, Briceno made it clear that he will not be bullied in this port saga.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: In cruise tourism, the recent controversy serves to highlight the unique demand for the Belize product. One cruise port is under construction and developers for two additional ports seek approval. Surely these hundreds of millions being talked about would not be proposed if Belize did not offer a world-class product whose natural luster we must safeguard for this and future generations. In this regard, we will not be distracted. We will not be intimidated, and we will not be bullied. My administration will do what is in the best interest of our nation and the Belizean people.”

We will have more from the Prime Minister’s midterm address later in the news.
