Yesterday’s shooting in Belize City has led to the recovery of a firearm and the detention of two individuals. Just before midday yesterday, Police responded to gunshots at the intersection of Central American Boulevard and Faber’s Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Assistant Superintendent of Police Francis Williams, who was passing through the intersection in a pickup when he heard six gunshots ring out. When he stopped to assess the situation, he discovered that his vehicle had been struck by three bullets. Fortunately, he was not injured. Initial investigations reveal that three men were involved in an argument in front of a nearby establishment. One of them reportedly pulled out a nine millimeter pistol and opened fire on the other two. While the intended targets escaped unharmed, stray bullets hit ASP Williams’ vehicle. Police have since recovered the weapon used in the incident and detained two of the suspects, including a 17-year-old. A third man remains at large as investigations continue.
