The trial of Clifton Percival Robinson and Angel Matura, accused of the attempted murder of Albert Reid in 2022, continued in the High Court today. The men appeared before Justice Nigel Pilgrim, and there was a significant development, as Robinson, through his attorney, indicated a willingness to enter a plea bargain. Robison informed the court that he is opting to plead guilty to the lesser charge of wounding. The court granted an adjournment to allow Robinson to consult with his attorney and finalize the necessary documents for the plea agreement. The matter is scheduled to resume on Monday, July 27. The attempted murder incident occurred in March 2022 in the Belama Phase 4 area of Belize City. Allegedly, an argument ensued between Reid and Robinson at Matura’s residence. Robinson pursued Reid, firing a shot at him. While the initial shot missed, Robinson reloaded and fired again, striking Reid in the foot and thigh. Reid was treated for his injuries at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The prosecution was represented by Crown Counsel Glenford Dennison.
