Attorney General Advises Jason Guerrero to make Official Complaint

Then there is the case of Dangriga Resident Jason Guerrero. Guerrero, earlier this month, told Love News that the Vital Statistics Unit had misplaced his proof of citizenship. Attorney General Magali Marin Young says she is not too familiar with the case but urged Guerrero to make an official complaint so the matter can be dealt with.

Magali Main-Young, Attorney General of Belize: “I would encourage Mr. Guerrero to please send in a complaint. It doesn’t have to be in a particular format. A letter of complaint and identifying which officer he deposited the documents and we will certainly look into it. I’m not familiar with the particular facts. That is regrettable and we would have to look into it but, it starts with him telling us with who because, too often times they are given to agents and we have no control of agents at the Vital Statistics. We have control of the officers who work there but not of the agents so we would need to know the history and who he deposited those documents with.”
