Under the state of emergency which activates at midnight, the Attorney General noted that while allowances will be made, they will be very limited. Police officers as confirmed by the Police Commissioner yesterday will be out in full force monitoring the movements of people and making arrests where necessary.
Under this State of Emergency, the Ministry of National Security will be issuing badge passes to a selective few. Peyrefitte explained that these passes come with restrictions as well.
Hon. Michael Peyrefitte Minister of National Security: A person in the possession of a badge pass issued under the hand and seal of the Minister responsible for National Security shall be authorized to move freely while observing social distancing protocols at any place or any any time as authorized by the Minister for National Security. I say that to say this; if you’re not moving for any purpose or if you’re moving for a purpose whether security or intelligence purpose, you’re a confidential informant or something like that, if you’re moving the police stop you and you don’t have one of these specific purposes here that you’re moving for you better produce a badge from the Ministry of National Security that gives you permission to be out there during the day. After 8:00 p.m and before 5:00 a.m if you’re out there on the streets the police will arrest you upon sight unless you possess a badge that says you have a right to be out there and that badge will be issued strictly by the Ministry of National Security and it will not be easily distributed.”
