Authorities Search for Individuals with Fake Israeli Passports at Belize’s Northern Border

Authorities continue to search for four persons caught, reportedly, with fake Israeli passports at the country’s northern border. Last week, three men and one woman were caught with false documents while attempting to cross into Mexico via the Santa Elena border. The group was denied exit by Immigration authorities but was not detained. According to Foreign Minister, Francis Fonseca, an investigation was launched to locate the individuals.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs: “Yeah I was briefed on it but we’ve had the Ministry of Immigration has been looking into that matter but you know at this point we really don’t know much but I know that you know the Israeli Government they have been trying to find out more about these nationals and they have committed to sharing whatever information they have with us here in Belize. But at this point we know very little.”

The group is believed to still be in Belize.
