BAHA to meet with poultry farmers in the north

Tomorrow, the Ministry of Agriculture and BAHA will be meeting with poultry farmers in Blue Creek and Shipyard. Love News understands that BAHA is strongly considering moving forward with its plan to slaughter and dispose of the chickens from the farms where the virus was detected. The number of birds from one farm could be as much as over 20,000. Given that sizable figure, today, our newsroom asked Armando Cowo, President of the Poultry Association of Belize, what impact the loss would have on the industry.

Cowo further explained that the decision to slaughter thousands of birds will not lead to an increase in other poultry products such as eggs.
