Baldwin Drive Upgrade Poses Accessibility Challenge for Belize City Resident with Mobility Issues

There is an old adage that progress brings problems, and that was the situation for one Belize City resident following the upgrade of Baldwin Drive. A concerned resident called into our Morning Show today to say that the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing had recently concreted her street, but in doing so they made it problematic to access her yard as she has mobility issues.

Following her phone call the ministry deployed a team to the area. The Ministry explained that the contractor’s program calls for him to focus on the main road and junction first to minimize traffic delays as the street is one lane during construction. The Ministry went on to say that access is handled after but that temporary ramps are installed to minimize inconveniences.
