The Belize Association of Persons with Diverse Abilities (BAPDA) has a new board of directors. Today, the non-profit organization announced the results of its elections held on March 22, in Belize City, where members gathered to select new leaders. The newly elected board includes President Francisco Cuellar, Vice President Noel Young, Treasurer Roy Briceno, Vice Treasurer Melissa Caretela, Secretary Emil Mendez, and Assistant Secretary Kennik Garnett. In addition, Kathleen Skeen will serve as Senior Advisory Member, with Frank Garbutt III and Warren Smith as Advisory Members. The group says the appointments come as BAPDA embarks on a new chapter of leadership, building on the legacy of former President Kenrick Raymark Theus, who passed away in December 2024. BAPDA says Theus’s dedication to the NGO and his advocacy for persons with diverse abilities continue to inspire the organization’s work. The new board notes that it is committed to unity, transparency, and community engagement as it moves forward with BAPDA’s mission.
