Bar Patron Shot in Cotton Tree Village During Armed Robbery

A bar patron was shot last night in Cotton Tree Village, Cayo District.  The Belmopan resident, Sherman Jones Senior, was at a bar along with four of his relatives when two armed robbers entered the establishment.  According to police, the criminals entered the business at around eight-thirty, and shouted at everyone, informing them that they were carrying out a robbery.  The men were ordered to lie on the ground, but Jones refused and attempted to disarm one of the armed robbers.  The crook then reportedly walked up to Jones, pointed a gun at him, and demanded money.  Love News spoke to an eyewitness, who says that Jones continued to resist the robber’s demand leading to shots being fired.

Eye Witness: “The Jones family didn’t want to listen to what the robbers were saying. So after there the one by the gate that was inside the restaurant already gave one shot to the outside to try to make everyone get frightened. So still nobody got scared just because they didn’t want to listen to what the robbers said. So he ended up trying to take the gun away from the robber and he got the first shot. Because the person was going to shoot to the left side and that side was me with my daughter. So now when he saw they were shooting that side, the left side, he received th the shot instead. So when he tried to run to receive no more shots the person came and gave the third shot when the person decided to run away and now still the shot end up touching the ground. And it looks like the bullet still returned back so it returned back and it touched one of the robbers that was ready to rob and so one of them with the same gun they had shoot and the same bullet hurt him. So one piece of the iron or something touched the Jones family that he got hurt in his neck. So after a while now three of them started to run to move from the restaurant pointing still at the persons so no one would follow them while they go away.”

The other patrons were Sherman Jones Junior, Emory Cruz, Kendale Jones, and Edmond Pascascio.
