Barrow and Noble Clash on Live TV Over UDP Court Ruling

Former Leader of the Opposition, Moses Shyne Barrow and radio personality, Alfonso Noble, got into a shouting match this morning on live television due to a difference in views. During today’s running of Wave Radio’s “Fuss Thing Da Mawnin”, Noble and Barrow got into a heated argument while discussing yesterday’s court ruling over leadership of the UDP. The show began with Noble and his co-host, Joe Bradley, analyzing the ruling, which led to Barrow joining them on set. The men initially were engaged in casual discourse, but things quickly escalated, and a shouting match ensued.  Minutes later, after name calling and accusations, Hugo Patt reportedly ordered that the show be cut. Since then, our newsroom understands that the party’s apparent acting Chairman, Alberto August has moved to suspend the program. This morning, Leader of the Opposition, Tracy Panton, was asked to weigh in on situation and August’s decision to put the program on pause.

Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition: “In 2022 I made a stand to support due process. We made a stand to respect the constitution. We made a stand to ensure a functional and robust democracy. We made a stand to ensure that as His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition we would hold the administration to account. The Wave Radio and the Guardian Newspaper are the organs of the party that help us to do that work in terms of keeping a functional democracy. It’s not just Jules you know ? All of you here are part of that process to hold an administration to account, to make sure we ventilate the national issues that are causing concern and anxiety and strife to the Belizean people. The acting chair has issued a statement you say, that requires further discussion with other members of the leadership team before we can all be in agreement. What we do agree on though is that the circus has come to an end and this appetite for sensationalism and this salaciousness that the media tends to gravitate to will not be entertained. We have to get our house in order, we have to do that in the shortest amount of time because we are in opposition and we have a duty and we have a sacred responsibility to the people in this country to hold the administration to account and to hold ourselves to account and that is what we intend to do.”

The live stream recording of this morning’s show has since been removed from the radio’s station’s Facebook page.
