Barry Williams Demands Retraction and Apology over Allegations of Money Laundering

Barry Williams Demands Retraction and Apology over Allegations of Money Laundering

Another possible lawsuit is from Barry Williams.  Williams’ name has been called in recent weeks in paid ads and news stories both on Channel 7 and Channel 5.  In one story, Williams was linked to an allegation of money laundering and immigration irregularities.  Williams’ admits that he had changed his name to Boris Sokholov, as was reported, but says that those allegations being brought up in local media are unfounded and untrue.  He has since hired the law firm, Lindo LLP to write to Channel 7 asking for a retraction, a public apology and monies to compensate for damages caused to him as well as payment for his legal costs.

Another angle where Barry Williams’ name is being called surrounds the deal between the Government of Belize and Portico Enterprises Limited, better known as the Definitive Agreement.  While we have not aired any story on the possible ties Williams may have with the Port of Magical development, there have been several reports that he is closely connected to businessman, Hisam Diab and David Gegg.  According to Williams, he did sell his land to Gegg, but there was no direct involvement.

Love News understands that the attorney for Channel Seven has since responded to Williams’ attorney, asking them to cite where the point of defamation is in the reports made.  Again, this is another story we are keeping our eyes on.
