Basketball Returns to Corozal as Cerros Suns Join Premier League

After a ten-year absence, basketball is making a return to the Corozal District with the debut of the Corozal Cerros Suns in the Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL). The district, once a vibrant part of Belize’s basketball scene, has been without representation in the local league for over a decade, but that’s all about to change. The Cerros Suns, a newly formed franchise, are bringing fresh energy, local talent, and renewed pride to the northern district as they prepare to make their mark in the 2025 season. Love News spoke with Owner of the team, Lupito Acosta, who explained that this comeback was driven by community spirit.

The team will play versus the Belize City Thunderbolts this Saturday
