The old capital is seeing a return of frequent gun violence and murders.  An employee of Bowen and Bowen was killed in broad daylight just after three o’clock this afternoon at the corner of Cemetery Road and West Street in Belize City.  23-year-old Derrick King was along with his coworker, 20-year-old Haywood Brown when shots rang out and in a split second, the two men found themselves in a crossfire with little to no options of hiding from the flying bullets.  King died at the scene while Brown was shot and taken to the hospital for treatment.  Also injured at the scene were 48-year-old Francine Wade and 38-year-old Clifford Oliver was also hit and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.   Bowen and Bowen Company Limited issued a press release shortly after the shooting, stating that there were no signs of attempted robbery and they are working with the Police to attain more details about the tragedy. They also added that they will be assisting the families of the two employees.
