The Belize Camping Experience (BCE) has created a summer guide for their campers who won’t be able to enjoy their annual summer events due to COVID-19.  According to Leah Perez, Children Coordinator for BCE, the guide was developed and recorded by Belizeans for Belizeans. She added that the guide will allow community leaders to know exactly how to engage the youths.

Leah Perez, Children’s Coordinator, Belize Camping Experience: “We had finished all our summer material that we were gonna use for camps across the city, great big plans but when the shutdown happened we knew we probably weren’t going to be able to meet in large enough groups to have the hundred plus kid camp or gather volunteers so we decided to take what we have and adapt it so that anyone can use it even under the strictest of conditions. So if you’re a parent that wanted to engage the children in your own home with the spiritual things, if you’re a Sunday school teacher that can now gather but VBS is cancelled and you’re looking for something to do, if you’re a community leader and you’re still within the regulations able to connect with the kids in your community we want to offer this material for you. So it’s set up in a way that’s easy even if you don’t have any volunteers you follow the manual through about the different elements and we’ve even created videos to make it simple so you press play and you get the theme song that was created using past volunteers and friends of BCE that was filmed across Belize City so these are things that our local children will recognize and that’s really important to us as a Ministry that Believes in Belize changing Belize. So you basically go through it with them but this is not something to just distract the kids with it’s something to help you know how to engage them. So we’re very excited about the possibilities and we want everyone across Belize to get their hands on this and use it however they can.”

The guide can be obtained by emailing BCE at Belizecampingexperience@gmail.com for the links to the videos and Guide.
