BDF Staff Sergeant Wanted for Questioning in Punta Gorda Shooting Incident

Punta Gorda Police are looking for BDF Staff Sergeant Alfonso Williams for questioning.  Love News understands that Williams is a person of interest who may be able to shed light on a shooting incident that occurred at Fairweather Camp in Punta Gorda Town, Toledo District.  Just after five o’clock yesterday evening, Williams is said to have fired shots at the camp, using his personal firearm.  According to a Police source, they are not certain if any charges will be levied as the senior personnel at the Belize Defence Force are yet to make an official police report.  We understand that while several witnesses on the camp have given account of the incident, investigators are yet to determine the circumstances leading to the incident.  No one was injured and it is yet to be ascertained if the weapon used is licensed.  Reports indicate that four shots were fired in the air in front of the Sergeants’ Mess Hall.  We will keep following this story as it develops further.
