BDF Warns Belizeans of Volatile Situation at Sarstoon

In related news, the Belize Defence Force (BDF) continues to patrol the Sarstoon River and man the Forward Operating Base in the south.  Brigadier General Azariel Loria told the media today that his soldiers remain ready to serve but appeals to the public to not traverse the Sarstoon unless it is absolutely necessary.

Azariel Loria, BDF Commander Brigadier General: “The Prime Minister has spoken on it, that we as Belizeans we can move anywhere we want in Belize, we are free to do so. But we have to be cognizant of the fact that there is a situation down at the Sarstoon and we would ask anybody that wishes to go there to do so with caution. And we will continue to ensure to protect where we could, but it is a volatile situation right now. And we do not want to request the Belizeans, but just for them to be careful if they so wish to venture into that part of our country.”
