BEL Extends Electricity to Two More Villages in Southern Belize

Two more villages in southern Belize are getting electricity through a Mini-Grid electrification project from Belize Electricity Limited (BEL). The utility company has signed a consent agreement with Jalacte and San Vicente, in the Toledo District. The Government of Belize has also signed off on the project. Under the initiative, BEL will provide power to over five hundred fifty households, businesses, and public services. BEL will use a hybrid of solar, diesel, and battery technologies to supply power to these grids. The agreement signing was held in Toledo on February 24. Similar agreements were recently signed in Jalacte, San Vicente, and San Benito Poite.
