BEL plans to implement new tech for larger, greener source of energy

Climate change has been an obvious ongoing battle. Earlier today, at Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) in Belize City, a meeting was held to introduce a new plan they have created. This will be an investment of over five hundred million dollars for the next five years to expand the services they offer to their consumers. Dawn Sampson-Nunez, General Manager of Employee, Corporate Services and General Council spoke to Love News on their aim to implement new technologies for a larger, greener source of energy.

Dawn Sampson – Nunez, General Manager, Employee Corp. Svs. and G.C.: “What we set out today was really to share with our stakeholders, our five year business plan and also our lease cost expansion transmission and generation expansion plan over the next 20 years. We’re very confident that our stakeholders, in particular our customers, are very keen to know what projects and initiatives we have planned over the next five years to ensure that we can stabilize costs that is very important to customers, to ensure that the service that we are providing is reliable and very importantly sustainable. We all know that there is a growing concern with climate change, there is a global concern there and so our stakeholders we believe are very keen on ensuring that the projects and developments that we are pursuing it is environmentally sustainable.”
