BEL Power System Update – 11:30am Nov 3 2022

Belize Electricity Limited Teams have commenced restoration of power supply to affected customers, and are continuing with assessments of the power system to determine the full extent of damages from Hurricane Lisa.

Power supply has been restored to some of the areas most affected by damages to the power system.

The power system in the Belize and Cayo Districts sustained the majority of damages. Therefore, extensive repairs are required in order to complete restoration of service in these areas.

In areas where there are extensive damages, power may remain out for longer periods if conditions are unsafe; OR if there are damages specific to customers’ connection to BEL’s supply.

We remind our customers that it is important, FOR YOUR SAFETY, to seek assistance from a certified electrician if there are damages to your service entrance or electrical equipment in your home or business.

BEL will provide updates as we continue to make progress with restorations.
