Belize and Japan Explore Expanded Cooperation in Punta Gorda

Strengthening ties and fostering community development remain at the forefront of bilateral relations between Belize and Japan. Just last week, on August 26, the Ambassador of Japan to Belize, His Excellency Ryosuke Yamakura, journeyed south to Punta Gorda Town. The diplomat met with the Mayor Carlos Galvez to review ongoing community initiatives in relation to waste management and explore new avenues for cooperation areas where the Japanese government can assist in strengthening the municipality and boosting service delivery for the residents of PG. Senior correspondent Paul Mahung met up with Mayor Galvez for a recap of that meeting.

Over the years, the Japanese government has maintained a proactive partnership with successive Punta Gorda Town Councils.
