Belize calls for Cuba’s removal from U.S.’s Listing as State Sponsor of Terrorism

The Government of Belize issued a release today stating that it is deeply concerned with the arbitrary decision of the Government of the United States of America to continue to list the Republic of Cuba on the U.S. State Department’s website as State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT). It noted that they are denouncing the baseless accusations made as there is no evidence that the Government of the Republic of Cuba is involved in any such activities.  As a result, Belize has called on the United States Government to immediately remove Cuba from that list, which has caused and continues to cause much suffering to the Cuban people. Belize added that it is encouraging the US to continue the process for the normalization of their bilateral relations with Cuba. It concluded by registering its solidarity with the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba. The government says it will continue, along with the member states of the Caribbean Community, to call for lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. Government on Cuba and for the removal of Cuba from the SSOT list.
