The Belize Cancer Society was formed twenty-years ago to support those diagnosed with cancer and spread awareness about the debilitating disease. Yesterday, the Belize Cancer Society held it 19th Annual General Meeting where they discussed pertinent issues and elected a new executive board. Love news spoke with Heather Reneau, the Senior Administrator of the Belize Cancer Society, who said that cancer care is very expensive and they are looking to lessen the burden by installing a Satellite Treatment Center.
Heather Reneau Senior Administrator Belize Cancer Society: “We are soon to be embarking on the development of an Infusion Suite through the kind courtesy of Ms. Maria Sylvester and her family from Commonwealth Trading and Global Reach International. So we will be having pods here where we can treat patients in Belize City so that is a new exciting endeavour that we will be embarking on and we have new board members that are excited, committed and elated to support the society with bringing new ideas and tactics to the society so that we can continue to flourish.”
Reneau added that the Satellite Treatment Center would be an extension of the Dangriga Cancer Society.
