Belize celebrated the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Saint George’s Caye Day on Sunday, September 10.  The official ceremony was held at the Government House with Belize City Mayor, Bernard Wagner and Minister of Culture, Francis Fonseca delivering the keynote address.  Both leaders reflected on how far Belize has come, and what lessons remain relevant today.

As part of the ceremony, Kendall Morgan was crowned as the 78th Queen of the Bay.  The crowning has been a traditional part of the tenth ceremony.  The reigning queen is selected following a finale of selected queens from the six districts.

The grand finale for the Queen of the Bay was held at the Civic Center on August 26.
