Brain Awareness Week is a celebration of the ongoing work in the advancement of brain science and bringing awareness to mental and neurological brain disorders and illnesses. Belize Brain Awareness Society (BBAS) is a rapidly growing Non-Profit Organization for Brain Initiatives, the Brain Awareness Campaigns and promoting the annually hosted Brain Awareness Week. March is also Cerebral Palsy (CP) Awareness Month, which is a group of neurological problems that affects the front of the brain that controls movement and coordination. Love News spoke with renowned Neurologist, Dr. John Sosa, who explained the importance going for regular consultations.
Dr. Sosa said that in Belize, on average he sees twenty people who are newly diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He further explained some early signs to look out for, as CP affects each person differently.
Dr. Sosa stated that the brain is what gives a person life, which is why it is important to keep it in good health. He encourages people to do eat healthy and do physical exercise, as well as engage in stimulating activities such as reading.
