Belize Celebrates Public Service Week, Honoring Dedicated Officers

Public officers in Belize are being highlighted this week for the invaluable service they perform for the nation. Belize’s 2023 observance of Public Service Week kicked off this morning with a thanksgiving mass on the stairs of the National Assembly building in Belmopan. Freya Parham, Chair of the Chair of Public Service Week Committee explained that the activities to honor public officers have been going on for more than ten years, with activities planned countrywide.

While there will be several events such as the national walk being held tomorrow, and the entertainment night to be held in Corozal on Wednesday, a major event planned this week is the award ceremony for public officers who have served for 25 years or more.

The week will also feature an information fair, where public officers will be sensitized on the various resources available to them including the Employee Assistance Program, where they can receive access to therapy and counseling services to help manage stressful situations that may be impacting their work.
