Belize Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Successful September

The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is celebrating what it says was a very successful September. The month, which is recognized as the height of the country’s festive season, is packed with events organized by the chamber. The main occasion is the Expo Belize Marketplace which brings together hundreds of businesses and thousands of consumers. BCCI President Marcelo Blake explained that the month was a positive sign of growing activity in the business sector.

Marcelo Blake, President, Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry: “As you know September is always a busy celebration month, but for the Chamber of Commerce it is in fact that month where we execute one of our largest events which is the Expo Belize Marketplace. And so planning for that started all the way back in July. And so, you know, there’s a lot that happens in being able to host in excess of 200 booths at the Marion Jones. And then, of course, but the nature did not assist us the night before where there were showers of blessings and then on Sunday with the squall that was passing through. But all in all, nonetheless, we got positive reviews from the booth participants and particularly we were able to ensure that our micro businesses were able to have a space to showcase all that they have to offer. So for us we feel that it was a success while the numbers because of the weather did not exceed the prior year, it did have I think a better visibility for those who were present and as I said over 200 boots this time around, so we’ve actually been growing year over year. I guess you’ll appreciate that the cost of just about everything has gone up and so it’s a part of how they’re able to ensure that the consumer is, you know, recognized and so the giving back there is what generally occurs at the expo as well as the exposure.”

Expo Belize was held on September 16 and 17.
