Belize Chamber of Commerce Expands Membership Options for Smaller Businesses

The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is continuing to expand its membership by making provisions for smaller businesses who wish to join. President of the BCCI Marcelo Blake says that more businesses have been joining the chamber, but there are some who simply cannot afford to do so right now.  Blake spoke on what the Chamber is doing for those businesses to get them signed up and the support being offered in the meantime.

Marcelo Blake, President, Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry: “When you look at the numbers for 2023 versus 2022, yes there has been an increase. Is it at the level that we would want it to be? No, there’s always room for us to continue to grow and add new members. But of course what’s also important is that while we grow the membership we also have a very dedicated group of micro-members who may not at the point be able to afford the join membership but are in fact a part of several communications, WhatsApp groups that we have. So we keep in tune with them. We also offer to those micro members who are in a position to join membership, we offer some levels of discounts, we offer payment plans for them to be able to join our membership. So I think it’s a matter of time that we can see those growth numbers come in probably in 2024. Because generally at the last quarter of each year, what happens is that if you join the BCCI you actually end up getting the last three months somewhat complimentary and your actual membership starts January to December of next year. So if there are any members, micro, small, medium, and even large, who may not be a part of the chamber they can definitely join our team, join the group within this last quarter of the year, enjoy a complimentary three months and then still have your membership for the full year of 2024.”
