Today, the Belize Chinese Association (BCA) donated 1000 medical masks to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, the Ministry of Health, and the Belize Police Department. In speaking with the President of BCA, Johnston Ou, he explained that the donation aims to assist those in the front line in the fight against COVID-19. Ou noted that additional contributions to the national effort will be made in the near future.

Johnston Ou, Chairman, Belize Chinese Association: “We donated a thousand face masks to the police department, a thousand to the health department and another thousand to Karl Heusner hospital. Well we jut showed our appreciation that we are so grateful to the front line essential workers. I know this amount is far from enough but I just got a call earlier that our second shipment is already here so maybe by tomorrow hopefully I could get the paperwork done and take out the second shipment and we could do a bigger number of face masks to those departments. We do plan to give out some to other communities. This is not the time about business, it’s not about profits, it’s all about how we can work together and overcome this threat.”
