Belize City Cab Driver Robbed at Gunpoint; Assailants Escape on Bicycle

A Belize City cab driver was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning. Just before 7 o’clock, 82-year-old, Cornelio Day parked his vehicle at the Cinderella Plaza, corner of Kelly Street and Freetown Road, when a dark-skinned man entered his cab. The man then pulled out a firearm, pointed it at Day, and demanded the elderly man’s money. Day, in fear for his life, handed over his cell phone and five hundred dollars cash before the assailants hopped on a bicycle and rode toward York Street. Day then reported the incident to the police.
