Belize City Council and Ministry Partner to Refurbish Cemetery Road

Belize City Council and Ministry Partner to Refurbish Cemetery Road

After a slight miscommunication, the Belize City Council and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) have partnered to refurbish Cemetery Road. For weeks, there was a minor confusion as it relates to which entirety was responsible for the road’s upkeep. However, the issue seems to have resolved itself. Today the council announced that while its initial focus was on completing the rehabilitation of 90 streets by the end of 2024, its priorities have changed. The council says the thoroughfare experienced accelerated deterioration following heavy rains, which has necessitated urgent attention. The council notes that it will work with MIDH and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) to ensure the project is completed on time.
