Belize City Councilor Allan Pollard Steps Down from Deputy Mayor Role, Cites Need for Fresh Leadership

Belize City Councilor Allan Pollard says that he will not be seeking re-election for the post of Deputy Mayor in the Belize City Council. Pollard, who has served four terms in the role, expressed that stepping aside would allow for new leadership and fresh perspectives within the council. In a statement on Facebook, Pollard emphasized that while he would not be holding the title of Deputy Mayor, he remains committed to serving the council. He stated, “leadership is not just about holding a title, it’s about service. It’s about making room for fresh ideas, new energy, and different perspectives.’ In 2024, Pollard contested Kaya Cattouse for the post and was elected by a majority of the council. The municipal body is expected to hold elections among its members this month to select a new Deputy Mayor.
