Belize City Council’s Handyman Workshop Equips Residents with Vocational Skills

Fifteen Belize City residents have honed income earning vocational skills through the Belize City Council’s recent Handyman Workshop. The initiative was a collaboration between the Council and with Tubal Trade and Vocational Institute. Participants went through a five-day course, two days of theory and three days of practical, in the areas of Electrical, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Councilor Javier Castellanos told Love News that the initiative is one of many developed by the council to foster entrepreneurship in Belizeans. He stressed that the importance of this course was to have the participants certified by an accredited body.

Castellanos said that the council is looking forward to partnering with Tubal in other areas to get more Belizeans certified to increase their income generating potential.

After graduating from the program the Council gifted the participant’s tools to assist them on their journey.
