Belize City Fisherman’s Shooting: Policeman Involved Remains on Duty

The cop who shot Belize City fisherman, Kenyon Plunkett, remains on duty, according to the Commissioner of Police Chester Williams. Last week, the 22-year-old was shot while traveling on a motorcycle with another man. Police claim the men were on Chetumal Street and refused to stop, which led to an officer shooting Plunkett, who was on the back of the bike, to his elbow. However, his family has refuted those claims and says the cop was simply trigger-happy. Today, Williams provided an update and explained that investigations continue.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “From what we know is that the PSB is still dealing with that matter. As soon as they are through the investigation, then we give an update.”

Reporter: Is he still on active duty?

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes, he is.”
