Belize City gang members arrested

A situation of gang rivalry was captured over social media recently where several young men were arrested and charged for producing a video recording to promote gang related activity.  19-year-old Jalen Babb was additionally charged for the offense of “ Unable to Provide a Reason for Movement Outside of  Curfew”.

A situation of gang rivalry was captured over social media recently where several young men were arrested and charged for producing a video recording to promote gang related activity.  19-year-old Jalen Babb was additionally charged for the offense of “ Unable to Provide a Reason for Movement Outside of  Curfew”. Three minors were also arrested and charged including a 15-year-old, and two 17-year-old minors. On Tuesday,  Babb was arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court to answer to both charges.He pled guilty to the offense of “ Unable to Provide a Reason for Movement Outside of Curfew” and was fined two thousand and five dollars to be paid by June 30 or in default, 5 months imprisonment. In regards to the charge of “ Producing a Video Recording to Promote a Gang Related Activity”, Babb pled not guilty and was remanded to Kolbe Foundation until June . The three minors were arraigned at the Family Court where they all pled not guilty and were all remanded to Kolbe Foundation at the Wagner’s Youth Facility section.  Two of them are to reappear to court on Thursday, June 18, and the other on Wednesday, June 10. 20-year-old, Lyndell Parham along with a 15-year-old minor was charged separately for the crime of using a video recording to promote a gang-related activity . Whilst a 17-year-old, minor was charged separately for the crime of  Producing a Video Recording to Promote a Gang-Related Activity. On Wednesday, Parham Jr. was arraigned at the Magistrates’ Court, where he pled not guilty and was remanded to the Kolbe Foundation until Tuesday, June 23,, while the two minors were arraigned at the Family Court where, they also pled not guilty and were both remanded to Kolbe Foundation at the Wagner’s Youth Facility section until Tuesday, June 9.  The videos were posted on social media and saw the young men and boys issuing threats to their rivals.
