All roads lead to Belize City this weekend for the highly anticipated 2023 Carnival Road March and mass bands are hard at work making their final preparations. The carnival judging committee began visiting mass camps last night, to look at performances and assess costumes. The Love crew visited several mass camps last night, speaking with bands and getting a feel for what can be expected on Saturday. The crew also spoke with head judge of the carnival committee Jerome Ali, on how mass camps would be scored.
The judging of mass camps follow the Carnival King and Queen Competition held on Saturday, September 2, where Belizean Jewels won the Senior Queen category, and Mother Nature Creation won the Senior King. Jump Street Posse won both junior categories. At last night’s the Love crew caught up with Kadejah Tun Retreage of Belizean Jewel, who spoke about what the band’s hundred and fifty-strong revelers will be bringing to this year’s road march.
The Carnival road march is one of the biggest events on Belize’s September celebrations calendar and, as always, we will be bringing you live coverage on Carnival Day.
