Belize City Man Accused of Assaulting Officer Released on Bail

Tonight, a Belize City man accused of assaulting an officer is out on bail. Twenty-two-year-old, Leroy Smith appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this today, charged with a single count of assaulting a police officer to which he pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of one thousand dollars plus one surety of the same, which he managed to meet. Stanley is due back in court on October 4. Allegations against him are that on Wednesday, August 16, he assaulted Police Constable Leroy Kerr while he was acting in the execution of his duties.
