Police have arrested and charged the man they believe killed the son of former gang boss Gerald “Shiny” Tillett Sr. Yesterday eighteen-year-old Kaleif Raheim Caceres was charged for the murder of seventeen-year-old Gerald Tillett Junior. The George Street resident was shot and killed on Baghdad Street in Belize City on Thursday night. Since his death, two men have been killed in close proximity. The recent spike in gun violence is believed to be the result of an ongoing dispute between rival gangs. Superintendent of Police Hilberto Romero briefed the media this morning on the situation.
Reporter: Is this young man affiliated with Pregnant Alley or the Taylors Alley group as the case may be ?
Senior Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, NCIB: “Yes he’s affiliated to that area.”
Reporter: Okay and then is there surveillance video ?
Senior Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, NCIB: “Yes we are looking at surveillance video, we’re reviewing it and we are gathering further information in regards to this murder.”
Reporter: Sir you haven’t answered if the George and Church Street shooting is a direct retaliation of this.
Senior Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, NCIB: “Well that is a possibility but we are not certain. We are seeking other suspects in regards to this shooting. All information we have that these persons were socializing and persons came there and fired the shots.”
Reporter: Is it a fact that one of the members of the George Street gang, his father was known to socialize at this location as well ?
Senior Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, NCIB: “Yes that information we gathered yes that he used to go there and socialize.”
