Belize City Man Charged with Molesting 5-Year-Old Granted Bail Amidst Controversy

A Belize City man was granted bail of three thousand dollars after he was caught inside the bedroom of a 5-year-old child, and allegedly molested the little girl.  45-year-old, Josue Sic, was socializing with the child’s father at their residence in the Lake Independence area when he (the father) left Sic to guard his three children who were asleep.  The father did not stay long as the place he was hoping to buy food was closed.  He returned home quickly, and found Sic on the floor next the child’s bed.  The child’s underwear had been removed, and a sticky substance was found on the child’s leg.  Love News understands that the father immediately called the Police, and Sic was detained and charged with sexual assault.  When he appeared in court today, Chief Magistrate, Jayani Wegodapola, granted Sic bail, but he was unable to post it and was subsequently remanded to the Belize Central Prison.  If he should meet bail prior to his next court date, he is ordered to stay one hundred feet away from the victim and the virtual complainant, and he must report to the Mahogany Street Police Station every Friday.  The incident occurred on Sunday morning at around one thirty in the morning.  Sic is scheduled to reappear in court on February 19, 2024.
