Belize City Man Claims Police Shot Dog During Search, Demands Compensation

A Belize City man is claiming trigger happy cops shot his dog this morning during a police search. Charles Foreman claims that around police showed up at his Pickstock Street home with a warrant to search for narcotics. However, Foreman says that before he could have locked his dog away and open his gate, officers barged into the residence. He says his dog “X” then began to bark at the one of the officers, who pulled a firearm and shot the male Pitbull in the body. Foreman then restrained the dog to allow the officers to continue their search, which did not yield anything illegal. The cops then left his residence, without offering any assistance. Fortunately, Foreman was assisted by his neighbors and was able to take X to the veterinary clinic, where his pooch was treated. He is now calling on the Commissioner of Police to address the matter and have the department reimburse him for the expenses he incurred.
