Belize City Man Faces Up to Five Years for Cyberbullying and Violation of Cyber Crime Act

Tonight, an example is being made of a cyberbully as a Belize City man is facing up to five years in prison after he sent nude images online of a woman without her consent and violated the Cyber Crime Act. Last month, 20-year-old Brian Lee Perriott sent disturbed images of a woman’s breast and private parts to another man using the internet. On June 6, the woman broke up with Perriott, and two days later he messaged her using a Facebook account under the name “D-Juan Petterson”. The woman told police that Perriott sent her a video, which was taken without her knowledge, of the two of them in bed while she was nude. Perriott then threatened to begin sharing the lewd video and created another fake profile, in the woman’s name. The call center agent then continued to harass the woman, and on June 27, sent her a screenshot of him sharing the lewd video with another man. The woman then messaged Perriott asking him to stop, but, instead, he threatened to shoot her house while her family was at home. The woman then reported the incident to police and was able to confirm that the account belonged to Perriott. Today, he was taken to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded guilty to the intentional transmission of an image of a private part without consent. He was remanded to prison and will be sentenced on July 9.
