Belize City Man Fined After Pleading Guilty to Possessing Bladed Weapon

Jimmy Rojas appeared in a Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with possessing a bladed article. Rojas, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty. According to police, Rojas was found with a six-inch black and silver knife on Mahogany Street on August 28. He told the court he is a construction worker and needed the blade for his trade but could not explain why.  Rojas was fined fifty-five dollars and given until today to pay or face two weeks in prison. He also owes an eight hundred-and-five-dollar fine for a recent theft conviction.
