Belize City resident 22-year-old Egbert Vince Gill is out on bail tonight after being charged with aggravated assault with a knife. Late this evening, Gill appeared unrepresented before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola, where he was charged with aggravated assault upon Leon Lopez. Gill pleaded not guilty to the allegations. With no objections from the prosecution, the court granted him bail in the sum of $1,500, which he was able to meet. As part of his bail conditions, Gill is prohibited from contacting the victim, Leon Lopez, or any members of Lopez’s family. Additionally, he must not be arrested or charged with any other offenses while on bail. Gill is scheduled to return to court on February 28, 2025.
